Classic 4017-based "baby-8" style sequencer.
Features:
This is a classic design, you'll find many variants of this, typically under the name "Baby-8". It's all in the CD4017 decade counter, with a few bells and whistles added. In this case, I went with 9 steps, the geometry works well. You can patch the gate outputs into the reset pin to change the step length.
Additionally, the enable pin is available for patching, which is an active low, so the pulldown resistor keeps the chip enabled. But if you hook up a high signal to it, it stops the sequence in its tracks until it goes back down.
